Episode 12 is a staple of the School Life genre, the Sports Festival. Episode 13 introduces Lala’s father but it isn’t really about anything other than the amount of censorship possible in the daily (TV) life of Rito. Episode 14 is basically a Rito and Haruna story.

~FYI, R/L sux and there’s a possibility I may lose my Net so if at some point you don’t see a post in this series after a week or so, that’s what happened. It may not happen after this or the next installment, it may not happen at all; just thought I’d give you a heads-up.

Episode 12:

Bad Rito.

They moved Rito down one step for the DVD I guess.

Sairenji Haruna, Mistress of the “Violent Retribution for Accidental Infringement”.

Manly tears of joy that Haruna ditched the white.

Haruna-chan commando… ’nuff said.

For once, Rito actually looks happy.

Not really that much of a difference in some of these; a flash of pink and that’s it.

Yet strangely, it’s not the beams that are moved.

The bottom stayed the same so we may as well have a Lala face-shot.

Episode 13:

This episode was a greater-than-normal pain to review. There was a scene in the beginning (before the OP) that wasn’t in the TV version that totally messed up any frame # matching and there were scenes that were totally changed (from exterior, audio-only shots) that also made it harder to synch the two.
The missing opening scene was of Lala’s father “suppressing” a planet. I didn’t count it as censored, just missing, so I didn’t bother to grab any screenshots. If you want to see it, buy the DVD.

This ep. gets right to it.

Not too sure what is being covered on the right-middle of the screen.

And this week’s fog is…. white.

And before you ask, yes, the light beams are on the DVD version.

Yup. Lala was and is a cutie.

This does not bode well for the brevity of this post. We’ve just arrived at the title screen and we already have nine pics.

Aren’t these the same pantsu from ep. 8?

Maybe not. I guess Yui just likes the checkered style.

This shot was removed on the TV version; it must be the butt-censoring thing again. (Or maybe we’re not supposed to see that lower knot.)

At least this one had the hint of blue to be censored.

This whole snippet was removed and replaced by shots of the school exterior. (Or the scene was added for the DVD. It depends on how you look at it.)

At this point Yui is wracking her brain for the safe word.

I can only assume the first couple of images they allowed in the TV version were to “set the scene” so your imagination could amuck during all these exciting building shots.

Episode 14:

Don’t let that hint of a stripe fool you; that’s not Yui, it’s Haruna-chan.

Thigh-highs, pink hair, and the tail kinda give this one away.

Eighteen minutes into the episode and we’ve just had those two shots.
I’m just starting to think they blew over their ecchi quota on the last episode and had none left to spare for this one…

When suddenly we get Haruna-chan in the shower.

…and that’s it for episode 14.
If you think about it in terms of broadcast dates, this was the first episode of the second “season” (Summer 2008). Episode 1 was pretty tame also in regards to the amount that was censored so I’d expect it to pick up again as the season progresses.
